Holly’s Holiday Fudge

Holiday fudge makes a great gift this holiday season.

The other night something sweet happened. My neighbor came over with baked goodies for our family. It was a wonderful holiday gift and boy did it taste good. While digesting homemade fudge and peppermint bark, I had a stunning revelation.

Baked Treats Make Great Holiday Gifts

We can all learn a thing or two from my neighbor this holiday season. First and foremost being that some of the best holiday gifts are gifts that come from the heart. Second being that baked goods really do bring a smile to people’s faces. With that in mind, I’m going to share my secret fudge recipe with all of you.

Grandma’s Fudge

To make Grandma’s Fudge this holiday season, you’re going to need:

1 8 oz. jar marshmallow creme
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 cups milk chocolate chips
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

To start, line an 8x8 inch pan with aluminum foil. Then combine marshmallow cream, sugar, evaporated milk, butter and salt in a large saucepan and bring to a full boil. Let it boil for a full five minutes, stirring constantly to avoid scorching. Remove the pan from heat and mix in semisweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Then stir in the nuts and vanilla. Pour the mixture into the foil-lined pan and chill in the refrigerator until firm. It may take a bit of effort, but it sure does make some great holiday fudge!
